The Ministry of the Holy Spirit — with Pastor Don Kimbro

Learning Prayer from the Words of Jesus

"My prayer is that this study will not only make you more aware of the ministry, power and 'fellowship of the Holy Spirit' (2 Corinthians 13:14), but will encourage you to complete your relationship with Almighty God, by seeking and receiving His promise of the baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-5) and follow the ongoing command to every believer: 'Be filled with the Spirit' (Ephesians 5:18)." —  Don Kimbro

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #10
The "Cessation" Doctrine Debunked

11-15-2017

In this tenth and final teaching of the series, Pastor Don Kimbro examines the false doctrine which asserts that following the early establishment of the church, there was a supposed ceasing of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and of miracles. In order to determine the truth, we must examine what God's Word says about this, and the manner in which we interpret holy scripture is crucial. Only by learning what the Holy Spirit actually said through God's Word—and NOT by interpreting scripture based on our own preconceived beliefs—can we know the truth.

"And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."
— 2 Peter 1:19–21

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
— John 14:26

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Part 2

11-8-2017

In this ninth teaching of the series, "The Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Part 2," Pastor Don Kimbro continues with an examination of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they relate to the various roles that the followers of Christ may take in the church (apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, healing, helpers, administrators, etc.), as well as other ways that we may manifest individual spiritual gifts. Finally, Don teaches us how we may receive these gifts, and gives guidance on how we must use them appropriately.

"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Now eagerly desire the greater gifts."
— I Corinthians 12:27–31

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #8
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Part 1

11-1-2017

In this eighth teaching of the series, "The Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Part 1," Pastor Don Kimbro gives an introduction to these spiritual gifts, details each of the gifts, and reviews the proper use of Tongues in church.

"Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, 'Jesus be cursed,' and no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." — 1 Corinthians 12:1-7

The Holy Spirit in the Last Days

10-25-2017

In this seventh teaching of the series, "The Holy Spirit in the Last Days," Pastor Don Kimbro reviews the meaning of "last days" in scripture, and the nature and scope of the work of the Holy Spirit in the end times.

"... this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.'" — Acts 2:16–18

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #6
The Fruit of the Spirit

10-18-2017

In this sixth teaching of the series, "The Fruit of the Spirit," Pastor Don Kimbro teaches how God's love comes to us through the Holy Spirit, the characteristics of God's love as it resides in us, and how we use the gift of the Spirit in waging war against sin and darkness.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." — Galatians 5:22–25

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #5

Being Filled With the Spirit

10-11-2017

In this fifth teaching of the series, "Being Filled With the Spirit," Pastor Don Kimbro shows us God's purpose in filling us with the Holy Spirit; God's way of filling us with His Spirit; the Holy Spirit's role in perfecting us spiritually; how we purposefully cooperate in being filled with the Spirit; and the results of living our lives being continually filled with the Spirit.

"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." — Ephesians 5:18–20

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #4
The Baptism With the Holy Spirit

10-4-2017

In this fourth teaching of the series, "The Baptism With the Holy Spirit," Pastor Don Kimbro reviews the promise, the experience, and the purpose of baptism with the Holy Spirit, how to receive this baptism, and more.

"As I (Peter) began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’" — Acts 11:15–16

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #3
The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Believer

9-27-2017

In this third teaching of the series, "The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Believer," Pastor Don Kimbro shows through scripture the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives as Helper, Teacher, Guide, partner in prayer, and much more.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” — John 16:13–15

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #2
The Holy Spirit is God

9-20-2017

Pastor Don Kimbro continues with this second teaching of the series, "The Holy Spirit is God," examining the deity of the Holy Spirit.

“. . . these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.” — I Corinthians 2:10–11

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit #1
The Holy Spirit is a Person

9-13-2017

In the first of this teaching series, "The Holy Spirit is a Person," Pastor Don Kimbro introduces the Holy Spirit, the Helper and Comforter who was promised to us by Jesus Christ.

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you." — John 14:16–17
